Wildlife in LA

Had a chance to get away from all the madness and take a short hike over at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Preserve. If you live in the LA area and have never heard of it, you should definitely check it out. It’s a green space and wildlife refuge near the intersection of the 101 and the 405 that will totally fool you into thinking you’ve driven hours to get out of the city. If hiking isn’t your thing, check out the Sepulveda Dam (I watched them film parts of Iron Man 2 there), the LA Japanese Gardens, the cricket tournaments on the weekends, the model airplane landing strip, or Lake Balboa.

There’s seriously so much to do here; or, you can just sit, enjoy the beautiful environment, and let the hustle and bustle slip away…

Read McG.

Good friend, actor extraordinaire, and fellow Dungeons and Dragons player Read MacGuirtose just finished up a headshot session with us and we captured some amazing stuff. Read is currently in production for “Blokes,” a satire of British sitcoms and the stereotypes we Americans have. He and co-writer/producer Erik Johnson just wrapped up a successful Kickstarter campaign and plan on shooting two episodes this December. If all goes according to plan, the final 6 episodes of the first season will follow shortly after, with a distribution somewhere in the middle. The cherry on top: watch me play an Irish policeman who can’t seem to do anything right.

On to the Pics!

Nicky P.

Nicky Peluso is one of those chaotic, free souls that you are just as likely to find in Cuba celebrating her birthday or knee-deep in a raid with her World of Warcraft character (sorry Nicky, now everyone will know that you are really a nerd underneath all that model/actor). She is currently in the process of transferring back to LA from the bay after destroying the competition up there. Last we spoke she had just signed a new agent and is diving back into the deep end of LA.

Knowing her talent and luck, she won’t have much time for her WoW character in the coming years. Check out these highlights of our session:

Arcadia @ CSULA

I was recently brought on to take headshots of the cast and crew of Arcadia, by Tom Stoppard, for California State University Los Angeles. It brought back a lot of memories of my days on the stage and it woke up that theatre bug that I’ve never been able to get rid of (granted I haven’t tried). This was a first for me, to do so many headshots in a short window of time before the sun set. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get shots that dug down to each person’s character, but looking at the results I am pretty pleased with myself.

If you are interested in bookings for Headshots or for a cast and crew shoot for your production, please email me at photo@KevinHarland.com for quotes and scheduling.

Arcadia will be running one weekend only, November 18th, 19th, and 20th. Show time is at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday, with a 2:30 matinee on Sunday.

Raj J.

Just finished up a session with actor Raj Jawa, who took advantage of one of my seasonal craigslist specials. I am always looking for novel ways to connect with new clients and get the word out about Kevin Harland Photography. If you are looking for a great deal, subscribe to my facebook page and keep checking back to snag a huge discount for your next session (up to 50%off)!

Great stuff, Raj!

“I just received the CD in the mail; everything looks spectacular and I’ll be sure to pass your name and cards along to anyone in need of quality headshots. Thank you so much; when I change my look I’ll come back to you!” -Raj Jawa
